Our Power Suit

Our Power Suit

At Allison Izu, we believe that a power suit is truly personal and can be anything that gives us confidence and empowerment. Each member of our incredibly diverse team of ladies discovers their true selves in various outfits that enhance their self-esteem and highlight their inner beauty. They shared their thoughts on their own personal "power suit".

1. What makes you a powerful woman?
I think that accepting that my style or interests may be outside of societal standards for how women are “supposed” to be is what makes me powerful. I’ve always been somewhat of a “tomboy” and not always traditionally “girly”. There’s nothing wrong with being girly, or tomboy, or anywhere in between. Being a woman doesn’t mean you need to fall into a perfectly gendered box. Being a powerful woman means showing up authentically as yourself.

2. What is your "power suit"?
Right now I’m really loving the Olive Brooklyn pant and the Infinite Grid pattern on our new tops. I like to pair it with my black boots and throw a Bryce Jacket on top for the Fall Weather. It’s classy, edgy, and most importantly: makes me feel like ME.

3. How does your "power suit" impact your how you view yourself?
My favorite thing about the clothes at Allison Izu is that they are versatile- I can style them in a way that fits me and my personal taste. This makes me feel powerful and true to my sense of self.

1. What makes you a powerful woman?
I’ve been embracing my body and allowing myself to wear shorter tops no matter how much I feel like I need to hide my body. The way Allison designed these styles makes me feel comfortable enough to venture out and try something different.

2. What is your "power suit"?
My new power suit is an Emi or Lara Top with Sunrise Joggers.

3. How does your "power suit" impact your how you view yourself?
When I look in the mirror now, I feel more inspired to “just do it” and not wait till I’m “the perfect size.” That’s the beauty of finding your power suit. And because I feel comfortable and inspired from what I’m wearing, I’m able to hone in on my gifts of intuition and show compassion to myself and others. I believe those are two things that all women have to offer the world.

1. What makes you a powerful woman?

I think what makes me powerful is my sensitivity. For as long as I can remember I was never the type to talk about my feelings in a healthy way. I bottled them up because I feared that I might burden others. This led me to be extremely reserved, observing more than speaking, especially during my childhood. However, through time, I’ve come to realize that my sensitivity is not a weakness, it’s a gift. Embracing this has allowed me to confront my insecurities and appreciate the power that comes with being sensitive.

2. What is your "power suit"?

My personal powersuit is the Gemma top and Milo pants. I love how the Gemma top is shorter in the front because it makes me look a little taller (I’m like 5’3”). Also love how comfortable the Milo pants are especially when it comes to going out to dinner, and I always have to unbutton my jeans.

3. How does your "power suit" impact your how you view yourself?

It becomes a tool for self-expression, makes me feel comfortable, and gives me enough confidence to communicate and articulate words that I can’t convey at times.

1. What makes you a powerful woman?

What makes me a powerful woman is being able to understand people on a deeper level. Everyone is going through their own struggles in life and you never know what someone is dealing with at any time. I approach every interaction with someone in this way. Giving people grace and understanding in hopes they feel comfortable and a little bit of joy, especially when they walk into the Showroom. I think this makes me a powerful woman because it allows me to have a different approach to how I support others in my life.

2. What is your "power suit"?

My powersuit has quickly become the Sami Top! The boatneck makes it feel dressy for work and the oversized fit makes it super comfortable to wear all day long. If I don’t know what to wear, I know that I can just throw on a Sami and feel put together!

3. How does your "power suit" impact your how you view yourself?

Before, I would always think that I would need to accentuate my waist to look good. Whether that be wearing a tight top, adding a belt with an oversized top, or even doing a front tuck. I always needed to do something so my waist could look smaller. When I first started wearing Samis, I would always do a front tuck, no matter what! But as the days go on, I have realized that I don’t need to accentuate my waist in every outfit in order to look good. There are other ways that I can feel confident in what I am wearing! I still love a good front tuck, but there’s different ways of styling that we all can try too!
